HR Assistant

About the Role: Cignys is searching for a HR Assistant. This roll will join the HR and Accounting department. Cignys is a 100+ year old company looking to expand the HR department. Cignys has three locations Shields, MI, Bridgeport, MI, and Saginaw, MI where the main office is located. With the growing needs of the organization the HR Assistant will assist with the day-to-day operations, with a strong support on the administration aspect of Human Resources. This will include payroll, record retention, recruitment and onboarding. Cignys is a high-end design, engineering, machining, and fabricating company specializing in custom solutions for military, aerospace, automotive and more.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly Payroll of around 120 employees

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources

  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, performance evaluations etc)

  • Coordinate HR projects (meetings, training, surveys etc)

  • Deal with employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations

  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, and employee recognition events.

  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents (provider licenses and job requirement documentation) are collected and filed appropriately.

  • Coordinate and assist in new hire orientations and updating job descriptions, Coordinate and track FMLA, Workers Compensation and Disability Paperwork

  • Maintain tracking of employee attendance in conjunction with the attendance policy

  • Enroll/terminate employees in HR related systems

  • Greet visitors, set phones and voicemails

  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an HR assistant, staff assistant or relevant human resources/administrative position

  • Associate degree or 2 years of relevant human resources work experience preferred

  • Basic knowledge of labor laws

  • Ability to manage complex tasks effectively, including exceptional attention to detail, organization, timeliness, and follow-through

  • Skills in MS Word, MS Excel, typing and filing

  • 2+ years payroll

  • 2+years HR

  • 1+years Accounting
