Job Overview
CIGNYS is in search of a bright minded and highly motivated mechanical engineer to support the design and build of commercial and defense related mechanical and electro mechanical systems. Candidate should have demonstrated experience in the development of said systems with previous experience in the defense or aerospace industry being highly desired.
Responsibilities
Interact with customer engineering counterparts to aid in design manufacturability, tolerancing, and best practices to meet their intended form, fit, and function while optimizing methods of feasible manufacturing tailored to our internal processes/ capabilities.
Creation of design proposals and development of designs, in accordance with applicable specifications, standards and customer requirements.
Drive product development from concept through production and customer sign-off.
Generate 3D CAD models and corresponding detail drawings with appropriately toleranced features including the proper use of GD&T.
Ability to calculate multi-part tolerance stack-ups to verify form, fit, and function.
Self-check completed assignments and cross check co-workers completed assignments for fit, accuracy, functionality and manufacturability.
Support Manufacturing in various capacities including aiding in the production, assembly and testing of new and existing products.
Support both internal and external customers
Research high level topics and issues
Perform BSME related calculations
Work on a multitude of projects at one time and prioritize
Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Preferred 10 years of experience in a defense or aerospace related manufacturing environment

Familiarity with manufacturing and fabrication processes including but not limited to welding, CNC turning, CNC milling, conversion/ deposited coatings.

Positive personality with a hands-on, can-do attitude

Accountable with self-awareness

Extremely well versed in the fundamentals of statics and mechanics of materials

Expertise in 3D CAD design and drawing creation

Ability to interpret and apply proper tolerance features and methods including geometric tolerances per ASME Y14.5.

Ability to self-check completed assignments and cross check co-workers completed assignments for fit, accuracy, functionality and manufacturability

Ability to perform tolerance stack-up analysis

Knowledge of ERP / MRP systems

Excellent verbal and written skills
