Level Three Machinist

Specific Responsibilities:

Level 1 & 2   Machinist requirements have been met.

 

  • Suggest and explain to supervisor improvements in operations.

  • Strong understanding in blue print reading, Strong understanding of geometric tolerance interpretation.

  • Ability to program machine on floor with G and M codes.

  • Before Machining, machinists must interpret the parts design from blueprints or drawings. 

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and make machine adjustments as needed. Also perform quality checks on finished products to make sure dimensions and other criteria conform to specifications.

  • Able to understand different types of cutting tools, boring bars, proper insert grades need for material removal with proper feeds and speeds.

  • Able to prove out programs, operating controls, and setting offsets. 

  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations.

  • Ability taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming.  

  • Self-dependent, Able to think thru day to day operations.

  • Ability to Support both Mills and Lathe operations in an operator role.

  • Must understand geometry for the purpose of calculating material fabrication True position calculation.

 

Qualifications and Physical Demands:

    

  • High School Diploma

  • Machine shop courses either in high school or through skilled trade or college.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch.

  • The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
